JOB SUMMARY:
Conduct daily, quarterly network engineering, administrative tasks of the client's computing resources, including perimeter premises, WAN routers, LAN routers/switches, load balancers, traffic monitoring and network management. · Provides configuration guidance, evaluation and selection of new network technologies for LAN/WAN networks. Evaluate and report on new communications technologies to enhance capabilities of the network. · Conduct daily maintenance, pull cables, installs hardware, IOS and other network upgrades. · Creates documentation of all network inventory including licenses, software, hardware and other IT related equipment (when required). · Provides rotating after hours and on-call support when required. · Coordinates network upgrades and installs. (Such as: Cisco switches, routers and firewalls, multiplexers, hubs, bridges, gateways, etc.) · Provides specific detailed schematics, and information for hardware and software selection for network architecture and conduct testing of network design. · Maintains technical expertise in all areas of network and computer hardware and software interconnection and interfacing. · Excellent communications skills are required including experience in client briefing preparation and report writing.
REQUIRED SKILL SET:
Experience in penetration testing, software reverse engineering, telephony tools and architectures is highly valuable we are seeking a Senior Network Engineer who will also function as the technical lead on the DOJ ITS program in Rockville, Md. · Demonstrated capability of analyzing, debugging, tracking, fixing and preventing network security and performance issues. Thorough knowledge of communication protocols such as TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, STP, H.323, SIP, SNMP and other related protocols. · Implementation experience for enterprise networks, to include, ATM circuits (OC-3, OC-12, etc), T-1 and DS3. · Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) required
DESIRABLE SKILLS · (Cisco Certified Network Professional) CCNP is a plus · Familiarity with DOJ network infrastructure is a plus
EDUCATION AND YEARS OF EXPERIENCE · B.S., Computer Science or Information Technology. · Minimum twelve (12) years of experience as a network/system administrator and engineering in a heterogeneous system and network environment comprising UNIX \\ AIX, and Windows platforms · 14+ years of hands-on experience in configuring and monitoring Cisco network equipment and Cisco Works, including WAN routers, LAN switches, load balancers, SNMP managers and protocol analyzer · 10+ years experience in traffic flow analysis, network management, network topology design, security, performance and fault tolerant architecture
