JOB SUMMARY
Under general direction, provides Wide Area Network (WAN) and Local Area Network (LAN) support to the DOJ staff encompassing systems programming,[operations, configuration management and computer resource administration].
Job Essentials:
Performs all equipment installations, administration support, and configuration management. This includes any required debugging/ troubleshooting, monitoring, optimization and administration in support of all of the networking equipment used to support the client’s multiple metropolitan building LAN.
· Configures and maintains metropolitan LAN firewalls, routers, switches, and load balancers.
· Monitors the performance and security of telecommunication lines, equipment and associated devices.
· Configures and maintains equipment in the Test Lab to support the client’s application testing.
· Performs system upgrades and periodic maintenance.
· Maintains network documentation, network drawings, and change management documents.
· Coordinates network outages during off hours.
· Coordinates all networks, adds, moves, and changes according to the client’s procedures, outage window restrictions, and security requirements.
· Maintains the configurations of network components.
· Resolves problems with the client WAN provider at the DC metropolitan JMD sites.
· Troubleshoots network problems, outages, hacking/denial of service attempts and security alerts.
· Performs installation of network equipment into cabinets.
· Installs/de-installs planning and preparation; conduct site surveys; deploy equipment as needed.
· Provides optimal user and site support and assistance; provides on-call support as required.
REQUIRED SKILL SET
· Broad experience in Wide Area Network WAN) and Local Area Network (LAN)
· Ability to configure and maintain LAN firewalls, routers, switches and load balancers
· Ability to perform system upgrades and specific maintenance
· Good organization and writing abilities to maintain network documentation and drawings
· Strong problem solving abilities to troubleshoot network problems, outages, and the like.

EDUCATION AND YEARS OF EXPERIENCE
BS in a technical discipline and fourteen (14) years of professional system engineering experience
