JOB SUMMARY:

As an integral member of the Security Operations Team, the Security Engineer will be responsible for perimeter security and all security engineering tasks for improving protecting the enterprise environment. The ideal candidate will provide technical leadership in the areas of network security. Responsible for research, design, deployment, configuration, administration, and maintenance of network security in the enterprise environment. Specific responsibilities include: incident response, system / server hardening practices, virtualization security practices and procedures, solution design/deployment; analysis/monitoring and generating technical and executive summary reports; incident response and executive briefings.

JOB ESSENTIALS:
· In depth knowledge and experience with incident response, network forensics and analysis, traffic analysis and sniffer technologies.
· Maintain awareness of current threats and vulnerabilities.
· Hands-on experience using such tools and products such as (but not limited to), ISS Proventia, Sourcefire IPS, ArcSight, NetWitness, and Encase.
· Support the design and implementation of security technologies.
· Day to day responsibility with firewalls, security content gateways, UTM devices, and all associated management platforms.
· Highly self motivated and directed. Must be able to work in a team, as well as independent to get tasks completed.
· Must have project experience and be able to manage time effectively.
REQUIRED SKILL SET:
· Highly proficient in TCP/IP protocol suite; and common understanding of protocols such as FTP, SSH, HTTP and DNS for troubleshooting and analysis.
· Advanced hands-on experience with networking and security technologies (Cisco ASA, Fortigate, Juniper, and Iron Port).
· Must understand complex routing and switching technologies
· Extensive experience in security design and implementation.
· At least 7 years of hands-on design and implementation experience.
· Experience with working in large-scale datacenter/LAN environment
· Experience in deploying large-scale VPN solutions (SSL and IPSec)
· Demonstrated experience with Federal Information Security Management Act (FISMA) and NIST preferred.
· Five years of demonstrated experience as a Security Engineer preferably within a government contractor, federal government and/or military organization.
· At least 6 years of network engineering and operation support
· Excellent planning, analytical, and troubleshooting and problem isolation skills highly regarded for this position.
· Good communication skills with ability to interact with all levels of staff; ability to interpret technical information.
· Ability to prepare technical documentation materials and professionally present information.
· Experience with supporting forensic investigation and strong network forensic experience.

DESIRABLE SKILLS

Desirable Certifications include:
· Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA)
· Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP)

EDUCATION AND YEARS OF EXPERIENCE
· Bachelor’s degree (Computer Science, Engineering or Systems Engineering a strong plus)
· Minimum five (5) years experience in security.
