Job Summary:
Serves as Subject Matter Expert as a Storage & Backup Systems Administrator supporting the Rockville, MD and Dallas, TX DOJ Data Centers.
Provide highly technical and/or specialized guidance to improve the environment, propose and implement solutions to issues in a planned timeline. Perform analyses and studies, prepare reports, and give presentations. Communicate effectively to convey information to a diverse audience.
Job Duties – Though Not Limited to:
· Perform effective transfer of knowledge to resources identified by Lockheed Program Management that will ensure resources can operate all computer systems and processes and assess design flaws and operational gaps, develop improvements to storage design and, report status to Program Management, and prepare operations and maintenance manuals for key IT hardware, software, and service.
· Collaborate with Program Management to assess and to review the current gaps and deficiencies in the as-is Storage & Backup environment, and take direction from management on sequence and prioritization to close gaps.
· Perform as a Storage & Backup Systems Administrator, to manage the installation and maintenance of SAN software and utilities; to support backup and recovery of operating system, application software and data; to debug SAN hardware and network issues; to support SAN setup, configuration and support; and to support performance tuning and capacity planning in an enterprise data center environment.
· Provide expert support for systems storage devices such as, but not limited to, Hitachi USP series, Hitachi AMS series, IBM DS4800 with SVC and storage area networks such as Brocade DCX, McDATA 6064 and McDATA 6140. The SME shall provide expert support for the Tivoli Storage Manager backup infrastructure including measuring, monitoring and reporting of daily TSM Backup activities.
· Develop and maintain storage backup systems management and operations procedures, capacity planning, performance monitoring, change control records and other required documentation and processes.
· Identify customer requirements and develop technical approaches related to project schedules.
· Provide recommendations to improve the environment, propose solutions to issues, develop and lead new projects, maintain current documentation, attend scheduled meetings, and implement industry best practices.
· Design and develop operations and maintenance manuals for key IT hardware, software, and service.
· Perform rotational after hours (on-call) support for the LM provided storage services, as needed.
REQUIRED SKILL SET
· 7+ year’s experience\\knowledge with backup software solutions such as, Tivoli Storage Manager (TSM). Tivoli Workload Scheduler and Symantec Veritas NetBackup.
· 7+ year’s experience\\knowledge with backup devices, such as, IBM LTO-2, LTO-4, 3584 tape drive systems, SEPATON Virtual Tape Libraries (VTL), and IBM Protectier.
· 7+ year’s experience\\knowledge of SAN storage platforms, such as, Hitachi USP and AMS products, IBM SVC, IBM DS4800 and SAN fiber channel hardware such as Brocade and McDATA Directors.
· 7+ year’s experience\\knowledge with information systems security, operations, techniques, and standards in a SAN environment.
· Demonstrated ability to perform basic AIX/UNIX commands to help troubleshoot TSM issues.
· 7+ year’s experience\\knowledge in upgrading both TSM client and server installations is necessary.
· Demonstrated expertise in Design, Planning, Implementation, Support and Administrative aspects of SAN Storage, Unix Operating Systems and Tivoli Storage Manager, LTO, STK Tape Library Technologies, IBM and Hitachi Enterprise Storage Servers/Arrays and Storage Area Networks (SAN).
· Demonstrated expertise in Installing, Configuring, Administering and Troubleshooting of SAN Storage, UNIX, Windows and Tivoli Storage Manager Servers Clients and Workstations in a Client Server networked environment.
· 7+ year’s experience\\knowledge experience providing lead technical support for the analysis and resolution of complex problems involving SAN Storage, Backup Systems and Unix/Windows Servers and Porting Applications.
· Ability to apply user requirements to the analysis, planning, and design of technology systems.
· Excellent oral and written communication skills in communicating with technical staff, management,and non-technical customers.
· Ability to perform rotational after hours (on-call) support, which might include on-site support.
· Demonstrate extensive experience with Storage Area Networks (SAN), with a specialty in Tivoli Storage Management (TSM) products to support customers at the JDC-W and JDC-D.
